Did you know…
… More than 30% of Chicago area students will drop out before graduating? At the same time, students who have an active mentor in their life graduate at a rate of 98% – that’s where iGlow (Inspire Girls to Lead Our World), a registered 501(C)(3), truly shines the brightest.
While my full-time job was serving on the Advance Team for First Lady Michelle Obama, my full-time passion was developing iGlow and the girls who were a part of it. We offer one-on-one mentoring, volunteer opportunities, and events for girls grades 7th-12th.
On average, 75-100 young girls participate in our regularly scheduled programming with even larger participation in our conferences. More than 500 girls attended our iRock Girls’ Empowerment Conference and more than 800 girls and women attended our Pink Pearls and Pretty Dresses Mother Daughter Brunch featuring 2012 Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas.
So what’s next for iGlow?
We are currently planning our Fall Kickoff Event that will be based on a Back to School theme “Golden Apple” taking place August 22, 2015 at Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory High School. We will serve 400-500 girls grades 7th-12th, providing empowerment workshops and school essentials such as backpacks and school supplies.
iGlow Mentoring would like to personally extend an invitation to sponsor a great cause and help provide necessary funds for this event. With your sponsorship we will be able to bring in speakers that will educate our participants about overcoming peer-pressure, making healthy choices, planning for their futures and more. Your sponsorship will also help us in purchasing backpacks and school supplies that will be donated to each participant.
We greatly appreciate your consideration as a prospective sponsor of this event. It’s the generosity of you and our other contributors who make iGlow Mentoring a reality.
